Former Miss Israel to portray iconic DC heroine

This is one news story fanboys and fangirls of the DC Comics universe have long been waiting for.

The Wrap reported that studio execs at Warner Bros. have found their Wonder Woman in Gal Gadot, a former Miss Israel and star of three of six Fast And Furious franchise films.

A long list of actresses were in the running, from Kate Beckinsale to Adrienne Palicki, to don the tiara and wrist cuffs not seen on screen since the beloved Lynda Carter's portrayal of the Amazonia Princess of Paradise Island in the 1970s.

Palicki, most recently seen in G.I. Joe Retalliation, had taken on the mantle in the studio's failed pilot and series attempt in 2011.

According to Warner Bros.' official release, "We thought the former Miss Israel had the looks for the part, tall, brunette, athletic and exotic" and all involved with the upcoming Batman vs. Superman sequel to Zac Snyder's Man of Steel, are anxious to begin production.

In case you missed Snyder's summer blockbuster, Gadot will join the superhero ranks alongside Superman's current portrayer Henry Cavill once again, along with a newcomer to the Batman franchise, actor and Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck.
